Pros & Cons

  • The constant support from all different levels of experience by colleagues and the ability to also work with upper levels of management compared to other firms.
  • The team culture, diversity and flexibility.
  • A lot of effort puts into making sure you feel comfortable when starting, time given to learn and train, team is very friendly and accommodate your interests and needs in and out of work.
  • I have constant interaction with Partners and a great working relationship with them.
  • The support for grads has been great, the culture is extremely positive and inclusive and there are so many resources and people to talk to which makes settling into a new role much smoother. Plenty of opportunities to socialise and get outside of your comfort zone, and the office space is lovely.
  • The ability to work across sub-service lines.
  • Diversity of clients, complex taxation issues, wide breadth of technical training and issues, cross-team collaboration.
  • The constant challenges in each job I do, including the constant learning I go through.
  • Audit can have very long hours in the busy season, but they are not as long here as in the big 4 as our clients are not as big. We also do not have the same culture of needing to hang around until the person above you leaves beyond when your work is finished which I appreciate.
  • IT system.
  • Can't think of anything.
  • The busy season can get overwhelming at times.
  • Fast-paced at times.

Corporate Social Responsibility
There is a social responsibility club and foundation based around working with a number of charitable causes chosen by the staff.

Culture
8.5
Culture
GT has a very open work culture with genuine care elements integrated within the fabric of the company. It has a flat hierarchy structure with Partners and Associates, all sitting at the same desks and chairs. This allows for a more approachable workplace. Workmates are very friendly and helpful and there are several opportunities to socialise overwork drinks, lunches, coffee catch-ups and EOFY Ball events.

Diversity

Diversity
I am inspired by a number of mums and people from diverse backgrounds with what they are able to achieve within the company. The company often promotes diversity. Don't think the company could be much better in this respect.

Satisfaction
My work day may consist of setting up new client engagements, checking databases, putting together proposals and standard documents and tax technical analysis (specific areas of the legislation that apply to clients and how these interact with other areas of the tax law) as well as other industry-specific analysis. Also, some wider business development activities and involvement in strategy and planning.

Salary
From my knowledge, the pay appears to be competitive, if not slightly better, than at competing firms at a graduate level for the same role.

Training
7.6
Training
They heavily invest in training and development. There's a good mix of internally developed training sessions and external training run by professional bodies like CAANZ.

Work Hours

Work Hours
All the team mostly cares is that the work and client should not suffer and hence it allows for the team members to be the best judge and plan their own flexible arrangement, which can include all 5 days working from home, all 5 days working from the office or a hybrid model with a blend. The work hours are mostly within the usual business hours but once in a while if the project demands then it can be long hours.

We take many measures in audit to make digital audit evidence as easy to provide for our clients to discourage the use of paper. We also are required to separate our recycling properly and compost food scraps.
