LGBTQ+ at Urban Utilities

UrbanPride - Supporting our LGBTQIA+ Teammates

We are proud to recognise, support and celebrate the Urban Utilities LGBTQIA+ community through a dedicated network called UrbanPride which focuses on creating a workplace where our people feel valued for who they are, and feel safe to bring their whole self to work.

As part of our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, this year, we relaunched our UrbanPride Working Group and UrbanPride Allyship Network. The purpose of these groups is to  help identify opportunities to celebrate our diverse workforce, promote acceptance and inclusion of our LGBTQIA+ community and identify opportunities for organisational change and workplace diversity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people by reducing exclusion, invisibility, homophobia and stigma in the workplace.

We were also pleased to become a member of Pride in Diversity, a national not-for-profit employer support program for all aspects of LGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion. 

Over the next two years Urban Utilities will be working towards achieving bronze tier status of the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) which sets the national standards of best practice for LGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion.
