GMHBA Graduate Programs & Internships

  • Banking & Financial Services

As one of Australia’s leading regionally-based private health insurers, and guided by our philosophy ‘Healthier Together’, we put the health and well-being of our members and communities first.

Today, we are proud to cover nearly 370,000 Australians through distinct brands: GMHBA Health Insurance, Frank Health Insurance and health.com.au.

Health insurance is our core business, but today we are much more than that. Our growing portfolio now includes eye care, dental care, primary care and allied health services across Geelong and regional Victoria, which means we are playing an even bigger role in the health journey of our members and customers.

We look after our members by offering specialised healthcare programs and we engage the broader community in free public health seminars and a variety of health-promoting programs, so we can be healthier together.

Our Head Office is located in Geelong, a few minutes walk from the beautiful waterfront bay area of Geelong, and on the doorstep of Victoria’s world-famous surf beaches and the Great Ocean Road.  We offer a remarkable lifestyle.

Recruitment Process

We have made our Application process as simple and as personal as possible.

Step 1:  Complete the Graduate Program application form on our website.  There's just a few short questions - but don't ignore them!  We want to hear a little bit about you.  Upload a current resume and  that's it!

Step 2:  If progressing to the next stage, our Talent Acquisition team will be in contact to arrange a chat on the phone.  You can ask us any questions you might have about the program, and learn more about a remarkable future at GMHBA.

Step 3:  Interview time!  If progressing after your telephone interview, you will be invited to a face-to-face interview with 3 rotation managers at our Head Office in Geelong. At this interview, you will hear more about some of the potential rotations within our teams, as we find out if we are a good fit for each other.  We will ask you about your skills and experiences, what your interests are, and the skills and knowledge that you might like to develop further if you join us.

Step 4:  If successful, our Talent Acquisition team will be in touch to make an offer and conduct the relevant employment checks.  And if you're not, then we will give you feedback that will help you for next time.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Our ‘Remarkable Futures’ Graduate Program has been designed to provide you with the knowledge and experiences that will drive your growth and development with us.  And because our intake is small, we will work with you to tailor your experience to your individual interests and needs - you won’t be just another (grad!) face in the crowd.  You will be supported by allocated mentors, buddies, and a structured, tailored development program managed by a qualified career practitioner.

Other benefits of starting your remarkable future with us:

  • Hybrid, flexible working arrangements - work from home for part of the week, and in our state-of-the-art Head Office located on the beautiful Geelong Waterfront on other days.  Best of both worlds!
  • 25% off Health Insurance with us
  • Love your footy?  Your graduate program cohort will have the opportunity to go to a Cats home game at GMHBA Stadium where you will also have access to the GMHBA Fan Portal for a unique inner sanctum experience!  Watch the video for a sneak peek of this exclusive experience.
  • Through our partnership with the Geelong Cats, as a GMHBA staff member you will also be eligible to win further tickets to games at GMHBA Stadium, as well as Cats home games at the MCG.
  • Purchased leave - as a GMHBA employee, you are able to apply for additional weeks of leave in addition to annual leave (funded through deductions in salary.)
  • As a GMHBA staff member, you will have access to a fantastic Employee Assistance Program with 5 free sessions with qualified external counsellors.
  • You will also have 24/7 access to amazing wellbeing support through Sonder - a leading provider of holistic support available to both you and your family members (safety, medical and mental health).  See Video tab for details.
  • AIA Rewards – we will encourage you to engage in healthy behaviors through AIA rewards where you will win points that you can exchange for great rewards and discounts  eg Coles/Myer vouchers or discounts off travel
  • Paid corporate volunteering days - as a ‘for purpose’ (NFP) organisation, we take our corporate social responsibility seriously!
  • Because we ‘live’ care, we have a fantastic range of other wellbeing programs so that you will feel healthy, included, and valued at work.  For example, regular events like:  Ride2Work Days; Pride Month Morning Tea; Women's Day Events; Values Awards; Coffee Roulette; and other amazing events (like our fabulous Christmas Party at GMHBA stadium!)
