Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders at Department of the Treasury

Treasury is committed to being an employer of choice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.

A Treasury workforce that reflects the diversity of Australians leads to better outcomes for all”

We recognise the vital contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make to our organisation which is why we want to do everything we can to find exciting employment opportunities for you at Treasury and to progress your career in the Australian Public Service (APS).

We advertise recruitment opportunities which are only open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates. These opportunities fall within our Affirmative Measure recruitment stream. While merit remains the basis for engagement and promotion, the aim of this recruitment is to increase the representation of Indigenous Australians in Treasury and the APS.

Each year we hold the NAIDOC Spirit Award to recognise and acknowledge an Indigenous staff member’s role in improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the department and/or in the community.

The Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2021 – 2023 provides Treasury with a clear path to advance reconciliation internally, and in the communities in which we work. We’re also proudly involved in the Jawun Secondment Program which offers a life-changing opportunity for high performing EL staff to work with indigenous communities, learning from them and sharing their knowledge and expertise.
