Management at CSIRO

8.8
8.8 rating for Management, based on 41 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
The were not too familiar with the technology I used, so they could not help from a technical standpoint. However, their theory understanding was very good. I would like to get more technical assistance on the odd occasion.
Intern, Perth
My mangers are very supportive. They understand that my work is a learning experience and are willing to provide as much help as possible.
Intern, Brisbane
My supervisors are extremely approachable. Making time in their busy schedules to answer any questions/go over any work I have done. Additionally, they are very friendly and welcoming people.
Intern, Melbourne
The management is good, however, I feel like students have been forgotten about and are not part of the greater plan here; rather we are just in the way.
Intern, Newcastle
After the first day, management does not interact much. However, they have been very nice.
Graduate, Sydney
My supervisors work within the same office area as myself and are very accessible in person and via digital means. They are great mentors and are very willing to give my work attention and guidance. They're excited for me to learn and allow me to find my way through solving the problem at hand. They're open to ideas and provide their own suggestions without overpowering the conversation or project. They teach me about their work, the current state of research and why they do what they do. I'm learning from them in a way that is translatable to future projects and problems I will encounter.
Graduate, Canberra, ACT
I'm very satisfied with management and mentors. They are very understanding, good listeners and want to see me develop my skills
Intern, Brisbane
I can contact my managers at anytime, both in person (for those locally based), via video call, email, or Microsoft Teams messaging. They are very prompt in their responses, and always help to the best of their ability. They provide feedback to work, and are always positive.
Graduate, Townsville
The nature of the job means staff are significantly independent, and management gives good guidance and feedback
Intern, Bribane
Communication was very casual without any pressure. There are weekly catch-up meetings. Performance feedback was done in meetings and mainly are commented on the project's progress.
Intern, Herston
Yes they are very friendly and approachable
Intern, Newcastle
It doesn't really feel like management, they just help me out when I need it. Very good mentors.
Intern, Brisbane
Yes I am satisfied. They are very accessible, they are always free for a talk or meeting as long as they are not in another one themselves. They are just normal people, easy to talk to, they understand my problems, they were once students as well.
Intern, Sydney
Supervisor is very busy, but makes sure to find time if needed to discuss and plan. Plenty of access to mentorship, always willing to teach new things or explain concepts. Good performance feedback and recognition, always encourages good work ethics and doing things properly.
Intern, Melbourne
Yes they sit in the same area as the other employees and are always interacting with everyone. Very friendly
Intern, Perth
My manager is lovely and even though she is over East she is always checking up on me and arranging meetings with me to touch base
Intern, Perth
They do feel a little disconnected but are generally quite positive and pushing in the right directions
