What is the best way to answer interview questions?

A great format for answering open-ended interview questions is using the STAR method. The STAR method is a structured way of responding to a behavioural-based interview question by discussing the specific situation, task, action, and result of the situation you are describing.

  1. Situation: Describe the situation that you were in or the task that you needed to accomplish
  2. Task: What is the goal you are working towards
  3. Action: Describe the actions you took to address the situation
  4. Result: Describe the outcome of your actions and positive results you achieved

What should I include on my CV?

Keep your CV simple and not too long. Recruiters scan a large volume of CV's, so focus on having clear headings with dot points. Include a well written objective statement, your work history in reverse chronological order and your relevant qualifications – ideally, this should all be on the first half of the first page! Make sure you also include extra-curricular activities, student society involvement, competitions and any additional qualifications and hobbies you wish to add. Here at EY, we are always holding workshops on what to include in a CV, so be sure to follow us on all our socials!

Where can a graduate role take me in the future?

The possibilities are endless! For many, a graduate role has led to clear career progression within the organisation, going from a grad, to a senior, to a director and even a partner! Some partners have stayed within the firm for over 30 years, while other graduates have learnt a lot at EY and then used these skills to shape their own career paths! Here at EY, we provide the tools and resources for our people to build a career as unique as you are.
