Renowned for the quality of its scientific breakthroughs, the team at the Institute is working urgently across 23 laboratories to help solve the unsolved and prevent heartbreak from happening to you.

At the heart research headquarters in Sydney, scientists rapidly translate discoveries into new diagnostics, preventions, and treatments for cardiovascular disease – reducing the incidence, severity, and impact of heart disease.

Founded in 1994, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute is the legacy of a legendary heart transplant surgeon, Dr Victor Chang. In 1996, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute was officially opened in Sydney Australia, by the late Diana, Princess of Wales. 

Beginning with just two scientists, it is now home to a diversity of more than 250 scientists, doctors, and staff.
