I work in a team that monitors and analyses regional and overall labour market trends and their implications for different job seeker cohorts.

Don’t be afraid to go for roles you wouldn’t typically go for – you won’t know if you enjoy something until you try it, and where you end up can be very different than what you originally planned.

My team helps the department facilitate the collection of Australian schools data to better empower decision making from both a policy and funding perspective.

Providing secretariat support for this division was a really exciting piece of work to be involved in and a fantastic introduction to policy work.

Rachel Bernabe studied a Bachelor of Communication in Public Relations and Bachelor of Event and Tourism Management at the University of Canberra and is now a Content Marketing Officer, VisitCanberra at ACT Government.

The most important qualities that will be useful as a graduate are teamwork, can-do attitude, openness to learning, passion to engage in the community, and a big smile on the face is important to succeed.

My current rotation has involvement in all business areas of the department. The role also enables cross-government department collaboration on specific projects.
