After completing her Masters of International Relations, Stephanie was unsure what she wanted to do next with her career. After hearing about the graduate program she was drawn the rotations and getting to participate in different roles across the VPS, as well as finding work with purpose.
“For me, working with purpose is intertwined with supporting our community and giving space to those who may not have a platform where their voices can be heard.”
Stephanie was initially nervous about starting the program, anticipating a steep learning curve and being thrown in the deep end. However, she soon realised her colleagues were supportive and made time for her learning and development.
“I thought everyone would be so busy and wouldn’t have the time or capacity to work with a graduate, but I had the opposite experience. People have been so open about including me in their work so I can gain a broader and deeper understanding of the public sector.”
