In a matter of days the world will come together at COP26 - the 2021 United Nations climate change conference – and as Principal Partner, Unilever is working closely to help accelerate climate leadership and ambition in the lead-up to the summit. Unilever has always believed that tangible climate action can only be realised through public, private and civil society coming together.

The time for climate action is now. But what does this really mean? What can we all do in our day-to-day lives to address the climate crisis and will it really make an impact? What actions is the Government taking and where could it go further? And what does Australia have to gain from taking decisive action now?

Unilever is guided by ambitious targets which align with the latest climate science - to have zero emissions from our operations by 2030, and net-zero emissions from our products by 2039 – and we're already turning these commitments into bold action - such as switching to 100% renewable electricity to power our operations, removing fossil fuels from our laundry products and incorporating recycled plastic into our packaging. But we cannot do it alone. Climate action must be a collective effort and it requires transformational changes to the broader systems in which we operate. The benefits of action are clear; it will catalyse innovation, future-proof and grow the economy, create clean jobs, improve the health of the population, protect nature, cause fewer extreme weather events, and increase our geo-political influence.
