Tim Chernyshov

Once I, my team and all contractors are on site, we kick off a day with brief ‘pre-start’ meeting which is also known as toolbox meeting to run through planned activities for the day, discuss the outcomes from the previous day, and highlight any safety concerns and potential risks.

6.00 AM

The alarm goes off and I am up and ready! One alarm is all I need to get up and promptly start my day. I make myself breakfast, start the car and head off to site, which is conveniently located just 20 minutes away from my home.

7.00 AM

Start of the day.

Once I, my team and all contractors are on site, we kick off a day with brief ‘pre-start’ meeting which is also known as toolbox meeting to run through planned activities for the day, discuss the outcomes from the previous day, and highlight any safety concerns and potential risks. In addition, all new to site contractors are getting inducted. Working on a fully operational site requires extra attention to ensure there is no business disruptions for the client.

8.00 AM

roof

The main works area for this project is the huge size roof. After pre-start meeting and site inductions are done, I open scaffold access and got everyone to sign roof access log. Look at the view! Once the site is up and running, it is time to check my tasks list, emails, and any upcoming meetings for the day.

9.30 AM

Coffee break!

The big advantage of having a project in operational office is having a cafeteria on your doorstep! It is time for a short coffee break with my colleagues. After a coffee break, I continue with my emails, which is usually consist of quote requests, follow ups with contractors, and client’s correspondence.

11.00 AM
It is time for a site walk!

roof works

Usually, contractors having a lunch time around this time, therefore it is a good time to do a site inspection to see what has been done so far. During roof works it is essential to do regular check-ups with people working on the roof as it is a high-risk area. I make sure there is no safety hazards a d everyone drinks enough water and wear full sun protection. In addition, I am checking if there are any issues that might affect work plan for the day and taking some progress pictures for the monthly progress report. After a site walk our project team had on site meeting with the client’s representative to discuss project progress. I was taking meeting minutes to ensure everything is captured.

12.30 PM

Lunchtime.

Half a day gone so quickly! It is a time for a break from work tasks, reenergize myself and spend some time checking personal things. The onsite cafeteria provides wide variety of meals to choose from and all of them looks so delicious!

End of the month is approaching therefore I got a few invoices emailed to me from contractors. It is the time of month when invoices must be logged into system and processed for payment. It will keep me busy until the end of the day.

15.30 PM

End of the day site inspection.

site inspection

By 15.30 all the contractors are done for the day. I do site walk with them to check the progress made on the day and make sure the site is left in tidy and safe condition before everyone is signed out and gone. I use the rest of my time to go through any unfinished emails, invoices and plans for the next day. As this is the quietest time of the day, I can really concentrate on planning all my tasks for the rest of the week.

16.00 PM

It is time to finish off for the day! I pack up and heading to the gym. Then get some rest before the next day.
