Culture at DXC Technology New Zealand

8.8
8.8 rating for Culture, based on 9 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
In the office, the culture is very chill and strong. The chill aspect is the ability to act freely / however you want without the feeling that you have to act up-tight / serious just because you are in the office. It's very professional and respectful keeping in mind that we have clients, still achieving our work as expected, but fun and casual. I can freely socialize with managers, team leads, 'higher ups' if that's how you wanna call it, without the feeling that you have to act a certain way, because of how chill and respectful it is. You definitely don't feel hierarchy after hours but when there is work to be done, people do what they're supposed to do, nothing more, nothing personal. After hours, colleagues usually go out for a drink or dinner, or hang around at someone's flat to watch movies and play games. At one point a few colleagues met up at multiple music festivals around NZ which is very cool. We also frequently organize sport events, board games, arcade, and always celebrate someone's achievement, promotion, leaving for a new opportunity, etc... The teamwork is incredibly strong in the office.

At the office, culture is great. Relationships between departments and levels is good. Socially, there are events/drinks held once a month to get everyone together which usually has a good turn out. Cooperation and teamwork from my experience is healthy.

The culture is amazing both in the office and after hours. cooperation and teamwork are always a given within each specific team and the wider office space. The social aspect of the company is highly admired, with work get-togethers and events constantly taking place.

Because the company is so big and a lot of our coworkers are remote, its hard to get a grasp on how big everything is and I feel like you're meeting new people all the time. In terms of socialization, its been incredible as there are so many young people working at this company that it really helps you feel like you belong when your amongst veteran employees.

Company culture is very friendly, structure and hierarchy are confusing given how big the company is, you know who your team is but not how the organization works and all their roles by memory.

As mentioned, the workplace culture at DXC is one of the best things about working for this company. Being a young professional coming straight out of University can be very daunting; however, this was not the case whilst being apart of the grad program at DXC. Some reason why the DXC culture is exemplary is due to: Inclusivity and Diversity: DXC fosters an environment where individuals of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences feel welcome, heard, and respected. This diversity doesn't merely exist on paper but is actively encouraged, creating a richer tapestry of ideas, innovation, and collaboration. We have many programs such as our Māori and Pacific Peoples Program which not only promote IT as a viable career path, but helps provide education and cultural awareness to our staff. DXC makes the effort to celebrate all cultures, such as through Diwali, Matariki, Global Diversity awareness week and Language Weeks. Mentorship: Not only graduates but all new joiners are paired up with an onboarding buddy. To dive deeper into what a buddy looks like for a new graduate, the new graduate is allocated a former graduate in the same/similar role. this buddy not only teaches the new graduate the ropes of what the role entails and trains them, but also works as a mentor and a support person for both professional and personaI questions. Having someone who has gone through the same process and journey provides insights to what the job looks like in the future. I am now a buddy to other new graduates where I can pass on any learnings I had whilst going through the graduate program. Empowerment: DXC encourages employees to make decisions, take ownership of their work, and contribute meaningfully. There is always support to explore different areas of the IT industry to find a role that is most fitting to what you are wanting to pursue in your career.
