What made you decide to work in the APS?
To work for an organisation that isn’t driven by profit and whose work contributes to something greater.
When you graduated from university, what were your goals for your future?
I didn’t have any specific goal in mind, I just wanted to work for an organisation that felt right and do work I enjoyed.
How has DAWE helped you achieve these goals so far?
I’ve really enjoyed the diversity at DAWE across my different rotations. I enjoy all the different and varied opportunities DAWE allows through the graduate program rotations.
What was your dream job as a kid?
Probably an astronaut!
What would be your dream job now?
I think I’m still figuring that out!
What would be your dream achievement in your working life?
Leading a team or project in some capacity would be really cool. I enjoy taking on more responsibility and would get great satisfaction out of achieving a goal with a team.
What do you value most in a job?
I think culture is always a huge component of any job, even if you’re being renumerated well, there’s nothing worse than turning up to a workplace that has a terrible culture.
Who in your working life have you admired most?
I think some of my previous supervisors have been instrumental to my career development and I’d like one day to do the same for others. My supervisors have made me feel supported in the department and helped me to learn new skills in a safe environment.
If you could have another career, what would it be in?
I’m not sure, I do enjoy being creative so maybe something with a creative bent?
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
I enjoy snowboarding, surfing going for runs and the gym and then just hanging out with friends. The flexible working lifestyle at DAWE certainly helps you to create a healthy work-life balance which I have really enjoyed!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Hopefully leading a team! In what area I’m not sure – I’ll see where the rest of the graduate program takes me and go from there!
