Start your career with a graduate experience like no other. The role the ANAO plays in keeping government accountable to the Parliament and the public makes us truly unique in the fields of government, accounting and audit.

See and be different at the ANAO:

  • get a bird’s eye view of how government works, working across the public service — an experience you can’t get anywhere else
  • have an impact on the government, keeping them accountable for their use of public resources and promoting meaningful change
  • see your work published and tabled in Parliament
  • learn from the best, with exposure and access to senior leadership at the ANAO (including the Auditor-General), as well as at the agencies we audit.

Graduate financial statement auditors wanted

Help audit the financial statements of government agencies and report your findings to Parliament. Work with some of the Australian Government’s biggest departments and a host of small to medium-sized agencies, authorities and companies. Each new engagement will be unique and present new opportunities to learn and grow as an auditor and accountant.

If you’re a curious and highly motivated team player, and you’ve completed an accounting, economics, or commerce degree in the last seven years, then you’ll flourish as a financial statements auditor.

Other characteristics we seek in our graduates include:

  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • creative and critical thinking
  • flexibility and adaptability
  • well-developed conceptual and analytical abilities
  • a strong sense of purpose and the drive to achieve.

Who we are

The Australian National Audit Office is a specialist public sector agency that supports the Auditor-General of Australia in conducting financial, performance and performance statement audits of Australian Government agencies.

Driven by our strong culture of integrity, independence and high performance, our audit reports support accountability and transparency in government. We’re proud of the way our work keeps the Parliament and the public informed of government agencies’ exercise of authority and expenditure of public funds.

Who can apply

To be eligible to apply, you must have completed your university degree within the last seven years or be in your final year of study.

You must also be an Australian citizen willing to undergo a security clearance process and relocate to Canberra (we can assist with relocation costs).
