LGBTQ+ at Australian National Audit Office (ANAO)

The ANAO recognises that diversity and inclusion are fundamental to living its values of Respect, Integrity, and Excellence.

The ANAO supports and celebrates LGBTQIA+ inclusiveness. 

Our 2023–24 APS Census results show that 13% of the office identify as LGBTQIA+. 

The same survey let us know that 79% of our staff say that the ANAO supports and actively promotes an inclusive workplace culture, and 89% of our staff say that their supervisor actively ensures that everyone can be included in workplace activities.

We know how important it is to hear diverse viewpoints from people with diverse experiences when conducting the sort of research that goes into completing an audit. The perspectives and contributions of our sexuality and gender diverse staff and our intersex staff are valued. 

Our Diversity Contact Officer Network provides support and advice on workplace issues including diversity- and inclusion-related issues, and routinely organises panel events, morning tea celebrations and screenings for events like IDAHOBIT and Wear It Purple Day.
