Campbell Robinson

There have been plenty of structured learning opportunities from structured sessions with technical directors to training courses, all of which have helped to further my knowledge and skills.

What brought you to engineering?

All throughout school I enjoyed science and understanding what made things work the way they did. My dad, uncle and a couple of my cousins were all electricians and I really enjoyed playing with electronics and pulling apart electrical items so engineering was the natural progression of this curiosity.

Why did you choose ADPs graduate program?

I chose ADP because I felt like it had a great pipeline for development. Being a smaller consultancy at the time, I felt like I had the opportunity to take on more responsibility than I would at a larger organisation. There was also a strong presence from the environmental team as well as specialist disciplines which I felt provided a more balanced take on engineering across the board. I also felt that the people were fantastic, they have amazing energy and a real passion for what they do and the outcomes that they drive so it was the perfect fit.

How has ADP helped you grow as an engineer?

The variety of projects that have been offered to me has really helped me to grow as an engineer. From working on small-scale residential developments all the way to 48-storey Office towers and sprawling shopping centres, you gain so much insight into the different problems that you might face and the solutions to overcome them.

ADP has also offered great mentors along the way who have helped to develop my skills, bounce ideas off and offer support when project solutions felt out of reach. This has extended outside of just my discipline and has included people across all the major disciplines.

There have been plenty of structured learning opportunities from structured sessions with technical directors to training courses, all of which have helped to further my knowledge and skills.

What are your future aspirations?

I’m currently working towards becoming a registered engineer and am hoping to achieve chartership as soon as possible.
