Max Anderson

As a Sustainability Graduate, my job includes 2D and 3D modelling for building energy efficiency and daylight, Writing and assembling Sustainability management plans and preparing Markups for insulation installation and stormwater treatment.

7.00 AM

I wake up early, fully knowing I'm going to hit the snooze button a couple of times. My morning routine might include watering my houseplants or doing some speedy vacuuming. At 7.55 am I'm out the door walking to the train to work.

8.30 AM

Arrive at work, heat up my breakfast, make a cup of tea, and get settled in with the team.

8.40 AM

The first thing I do each day is assessed what's on the priority list. Today, it was mostly preparing a green star submission. Green star submissions are all about finding the right evidence for different sustainability-related milestones a construction project might be pursuing. I've got to put my investigator hat on and track down documents and ask the right people for others.

8.50 AM

Of course, you've gotta check your emails at some point too. Sometimes I'll get a couple of surprises I'll have to slot into my day.

11.00 AM

Normally by this point, I'm feeling a bit peckish, so I head down to the breakout room to grab a piece of fruit, and maybe another cup of tea, depending on how I'm trending so far.

12.30 PM

Time for Lunch! I and the other grads will normally group up and head down to the food court to eat, talk trash, and then head down to treasury gardens to get some fresh air. We're pretty on the ball with bringing tasty food from home, but if not, we've got plenty of options down in the food court.

1.30 PM

Back to it, after lunch, I get back to my desk and start up some more document assembly. I might approach one of my ***bosses to see if I can lock in some time for them to have a look over my work.

3.00 PM

I jump into a meeting with our Brisbane office about a Daylight project I've been working on. We have a couple of laughs and then talk about the results we've achieved, and what are our next steps.

5.30 PM

I finish up for the day and either head to the gym, meet up with friends in the city or head home to get some well-deserved rest. Most of the time I get home around 6.30 pm to 7.00 pm, will throw my meal prep in the microwave, and get to other admin tasks before calling it a day.
